PENS: An alternative to Opioids for Relief of Chronic Pain

PENS is a device that doctors can apply for those suffering from chronic pain of various origins. The device is applied to the patient's ear in the doctors office with a minimally invasive procedure. The device is connected at 4 strategic positions in the ear based on diagnosis and is worn for a 10-12 day period. During that time the 4 cathodes send a low level stimulation to the patient's nervous system to help control pain. The device offers up to 6 months of chronic pain relief. After the 10-12 day period the patient returns to their doctor and the device is removed that the success of the procedure is evaluated. If beneficial a new unit can be reapplied if and when the chronic pain returns.
